Environmental Caucus Chair: Casey Pease, UMass Amherst
Born in Pittsfield, MA and raised in the small town of Worthington, Casey is proud to call the Berkshires home. His family's local involvement led him to develop an early interest in politics and public policy. This interest deepened during his time in the Gateway Regional School District, where Casey was an active student leader and a witness to the challenges faced by our communities and teachers in educating the next generation. Working for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, Casey was its youngest full-time staffer and is now the campaign manager for State Senate candidate Andrea Harrington. He studies Political Science and Community Engagement at UMass Amherst and looks forward to devoting himself to a career in public service after graduation. Off the campaign trail, Casey serves as a volunteer firefighter and enjoys hiking, camping, and generally being a nerd.
Environmental Caucus Vice Chair: Gil Haven, Clark University
Though born and Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gil Haven is currently a sophomore at Clark University studying Environmental Science & Policy. Having grown up in a household of activists, it didn’t take long for Gil to catch the bug. ‘Future world changer’ was practically written on his birth certificate. His love for politics and policy can be credited to his parents, his 12th grade AP Government class, and Aaron Sorkin. In the spring of his senior year in high school, Gil quit the baseball team to get in on the ground floor of Jim Kenney’s successful Philadelphia Mayoral Campaign-- he replaced the balls for calls and the bats for doors to knock, all the while learning the intricacy of the campaigning process. Gil is excited to join the CDM team, and is looking forward to all the amazing experiences to be had and all the change that can be made through this position.
