Now more than ever, Chelsea needs new leaders with progressive ideas to bring change. We need somebody who is passionate about what matters most to residents and who is ready to listen and include all members of our city in rebuilding our community. Together we can do great things!
My name is Judith García and I am a candidate for City Council District 5 in Chelsea, MA.
I grew up in Chelsea in a proud Spanish-speaking household. I am the daughter of a single mother who emigrated from Honduras to work in a Chelsea factory. The experiences of my mother and of other immigrants in my community helped fuel my interest in, and enthusiasm for, women’s empowerment, public policy, grassroots advocacy and social change.
Today I work as a HelpLine Counselor at Health Care For All, an advocacy organization working to achieve quality, affordable health care for all Massachusetts residents. As a bi-lingual counselor, I see first-hand the barriers consumers face in getting the care they need, and I am deeply committed to their health and welfare. As your City Councillor, I will continue my commitment to the health and well-being of all members of our community.
