Boston, Massachusetts – Tuesday, May 20, 2008 — The College Democrats of Massachusetts (CDM) stand in solidarity with our Honorary Chair and US Senator, Sen. Ted Kennedy and the Kennedy family during their difficult time. We are grieved and saddened to learn about the Senator’s condition and will continue to keep him in our constant thoughts and prayers.

Senator Kennedy has been a stalwart advocate for college students and the issues that matter to our generation. He has consistently spoken up on these issues even when his positions haven’t yet gained broad acceptance within the political mainstream.

Nevertheless, it is a credit to his strength of character and wisdom that Sen. Kennedy always seems to find himself light years ahead of many others. His prolific career thus far has been marked with an endless series of major legislative achievements. Though his work, he has directly touched the life of every American citizen and shown us the best that we can expect from our government.

We sincerely hope that Sen. Kennedy is able return to the senate floor quickly where we know he is needed to resume doing what he does best: Fighting for the Democratic cause by strongly advocating for responsibility, compassion and fairness in American governance and by providing a voice to all those who lack one.

The College Democrats of Massachusetts are a federation of more than 4,000 young Democrats from across the Commonwealth, and have a long and successful history of work advancing Democratic causes in this state and throughout the country.
